At Your Co-op, Every Day is Earth Day

Happy Earth Year! (Earth "Day" isn't enough for us...)
At your Co-op, we pride ourselves on making it easy to do the earth-friendly thing, every single time you shop for groceries. From the most delicious foods from local and organic farmers and producers to enticing vegan and vegetarian fare, to composting both customer waste and ours, we do groceries in a different kind of way. Hop on in and we'll make your celebrations – including that everyday one we call "dinner" – both amazing and easy-on-the earth!

Want to make those gorgeous naturally-dyed eggs, above? How-to here >

Passover Goods & FREE Seder Bones!

Stop by your Co-op for FREE bone shards for your Passover Seder plate (one per person, no purchase necessary!), and, after Weds., April 5, we'll have a display of everything you need for a delicious Charoset & Hillel's Sandwich – including the recipe!

Please note our Kosher for Passover shipments are limited – while supplies last.

A-Tisket, A-Tasket, Fill Your Easter Basket!

Pick out one of our beautiful Alaffia Fair Trade Easter Baskets and and stuff it with our great new organic jelly beans, fruit bears, and delish fish, vegan and GMO-free candy bars, local Mount Vernon Chocolate bunnies, plus Chocolove peanut butter and almond butter cups!

Our bakers and pastry decorators are prepping their natural colors for fun, delicious Easter-decorated versions of our famous House-Made Carrot Cakes. (If possible, please let us know how much to prep by placing cake orders in advance. We'll have small Easter "baby cakes" on hand, but it never hurts to order!) As always, we bake our pastries from scratch with organic flour, local cage-free eggs, organic Fair Trade sugar, and non-GMO oil for treats that are naturally delicious!

We're your connection with local farmers for local, humanely-raised ham (of every variety – boneless, bone-in, or spiral cut) & fresh – never frozen – local lamb (we're the only source in the area for fresh, local lamb, and our skilled butchers do 100% of the work in-house!). Our scratch-made quiches and sustainable Troller Point Coho Salmon Lox make brunch easy, plus our house-made Hot Cross Buns will be available in 2- or 6-packs Friday-Sunday of Easter weekend!

Fresh Strawberry Pavlova

Gluten free, irresistible for everyone! In a pavlova, layered textures – crunchy meringue exterior, gooey meringue interior, soft clouds of whipped cream, and fresh, juicy fruit – combine for an absolutely irresistible dessert. Get the recipe >

Pollinator’s Paradise: Establishing a Pollinator Garden Class

Earth Day, Sat., April 22, 10AM-noon
Pollinators have been in the news a lot lately – they're an incredibly important part of a healthy ecosystem and are responsible for much of our food production. We all have a role to play in ensuring their success. Join Master Naturalist and New Pi staffer Eric Miller in learning how to establish your own pollinator garden at home. Eric will walk us through the processes of choosing the right plants for our ecosystem and discuss strategies to plan for visual impact. We will join Eric outside the Coralville Co-op and break ground, taking an active part in establishing a new pollinator bed at the store. Participants will receive seeds to carry home and create their own pollinator paradise! Please register in advance >

The Wahls Protocol: Cooking for Life

Tues., May 2, 6:00-7:30PM, New Pi Cedar Rapids

Join us for this class by Dr. Terry Wahls, discussing how cooking at home is the single most powerful strategy for reducing pain, increasing energy, and joy, and reducing our need for prescription medication. Dr. Wahls will review new research on the impact of our gut bacteria on our mood, our thinking abilities, and our health. She’ll discuss constructing diets that optimize your health – whether you’re an omnivore, vegetarian, or vegan, or on a paleo-ketogenic diet – and how to make these changes manageable for both your schedule and your pocketbook. After the talk, Dr. Wahls will sign copies of The Wahls Protocol: A Radical New Way to Treat All Chronic Autoimmune Conditions and her new companion cookbook, The Wahls Protocol: Cooking for Life! Please register in advance >

Words from Our Community

"My journey to healthy, organic living wasn’t a clear cut one. Like most Americans, I was raised on canned veggies, shelf-stable processed food, and TV dinners. I never assumed that purchasing from mass-appeal chains eroded our local economy and the planet. I knew buying local was important, but I didn’t quite understand the why behind it." Read >
