Shift Supervisor

Working Environment:

The Service Team Shift Supervisor works in a retail and prepared foods service counter environment. Duties may include a combination of oversight and training of team members in cashiering, stocking merchandise, preparing and stocking fresh products for display and consumption in the prepared foods service areas and counters. In this team based position you will ensure a high level of customer focused service for our shippers and maintain a safe and productive environment for our employees.  Team oversight may also involve frequent periods of time working in walk in coolers and freezers. Direct and interactive communication with customers and team members on the retail service floor, and counter areas will be a daily occurrence.

Commissary Production Manager

North Liberty Location

Working Environment:

The Commissary Production Manager oversees all facilities, team members and supervisors of a commissary style environment (bakery and kitchen) located in North Liberty, IA.  This includes commercial food production equipment, mixers, ovens, forklifts, delivery vehicles etc. The operation is high volume and fast paced serving multiple locations with timely deliveries while ensuring product quality. Maintaining strong ties and positive working relationships with our retail units will be critical for success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience - hiring, training, coaching, evaluating, leading.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in high volume food production or manufacturing in the natural or conventional food industries.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, internal and external customer service skills.
  • Understanding of food costing methods, experience with ChefTec software and ability to use sales data to keep pace with changing demand at multiple retail locations.
  • Strong understanding of state and local health codes, food safety, allergen and dietary restrictive issues.
  • Practical understanding of Microsoft Office suite, with intermediate to advanced understanding of MS Excel.
  • Highly organized with the ability to analyze systems and procedures, efficiently implement changes, and establish best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and develop productive teams.
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and inspire a diverse and creative production and culinary team.
  • Familiarity with Quality Assurance practices.
  • Flexible and adaptive to meet the scheduling requirements of a production facility.

Team Leader, Retail Prepared Foods

Iowa City Location

This Team Leader position oversees and directs the activities of the in-store deli counter and prepared foods displays and cases. The Prepared Foods Lead will actively schedule, supervise, and train team members to role model exceptional customer service while promoting New Pioneer’s brand and product lines.

Working Environment:

The Prepared Foods Team Leader works in a retail, kitchen, and office environment. Direct and interactive communication with customers and team members on the retail service floor, counter areas, as well as office hours will be a daily occurrence. Regular interaction and positive communication with New Pioneer’s production commissary Bakery and Kitchen teams will be an ongoing expectation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership position in a food service environment.
  • Ability to consistently project a friendly, open, and service oriented demeanor.
  • Enthusiasm for working in fast-paced creative environment.
  • Demonstrated retail customer service experience and skills.
  • Experience building teams, executing goals, effectively creating change, and increasing efficiency.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in both a retail and kitchen environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand financial information.
  • Experience in a production or finish bakery/kitchen.

This leadership position requires a committed schedule to include opening, midday, closing, weekend, and holiday shifts on a regular basis.

Utility Prep Cook (North Liberty location)

This task focused position works all utility aspects of our professional production kitchen and bakery. Outstanding customer service, demonstrated through an outstanding work ethic, task performance, productivity and dedication to quality is our goal.

Working Environment:

The Utility Prep Cook works in a utility/support role in a professional kitchen and bakery environment.  This will involve frequent and extended periods of time, in a wet and steamy area, operating a commercial sanitation unit as well as general cleaning tasks. Other tasks will involve labeling and stocking all ingredients on shelves to be organized and easily accessible, measuring ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking, preparing simple dishes such as salads, soups, entrees etc., prepares cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc., and maintains the kitchen/cooking environment clean and safe for all staff members and takes on culinary tasks as they arise.  Schedules will include frequent periods of time in walk in coolers and freezers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Verifiable work experience with excellent tenure and attendance
  • Restaurant, institution, or food service experience
  • Familiarity with professional kitchen or bakery equipment
  • Familiarity of basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling foods, etc.

Retail - Store Service Team

Working Environment:

As a Bread or Pastry Scratch Baker you will be working in a professional bakery and kitchen environment. This position requires frequent use and oversight of commercial bakery/kitchen equipment including large batch mixers, stoves, ovens, and proofers. Direct and interactive communication with prepared foods team members (pastry and bread bakery and kitchen) daily and with retail facilities team members frequently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 months food service experience, preferably institutional or commercial bakery.
  • Ability to work with both hands in a fast-paced, creative environment in an efficient and controlled manner.
  • Attention to detail and ability to stand and work long periods at a time.
  • Ability to read and speak English and perform basic math problems associated with recipes.
  • Ability to accurately and consistently follow recipes.

Outstanding customer service demonstrated through thoughtful preparation of appealing and nutritious foods for our full service deli and catering customers.

Working Environment:

In this creative, production, and oversight role you will be working in a professional bakery and kitchen environment. This position will require a high degree of manual dexterity and attention to detail while maintaining established product standards. There will be frequent use of commercial kitchen equipment including mixers, food processors, stoves, ovens, and knives. The workplace environment may also include frequent periods of time in walk in coolers and freezers. Direct and interactive communication with prepared foods team members (bakery and kitchen) daily and with retail facilities team members frequently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a food service environment with deli and catering responsibilities.
  • Experience with product development, menu planning, and costing software (Master Chef, ChefTec).
  • Experience in a supervisory role – training and directing others.
  • Ability to work with both hands in a fast-paced, creative environment in an efficient and controlled manner.
  • Ability to read and speak English and perform basic math problems associated with recipes and customer order needs.
