Scratch Baker (North Liberty location)

The primary focus of this skills based position is on delivering a consistent and quality product made to New Pioneer standards from trusted ingredients. Outstanding customer service, demonstrated by a strong work ethic, task performance, productivity and dedication to quality is our goal.

Working Environment:

As a Bread or Pastry Scratch Baker you will be working in a professional bakery and kitchen environment. This position may require frequent use and oversight of commercial bakery/kitchen equipment including large batch mixers, stoves, ovens, and proofers. This environment will also include frequent periods of time in walk in coolers and freezers. Direct and interactive communication with prepared foods team members (pastry and bread bakery and kitchen) daily and with retail facilities team members on occasion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 months of institutional or commercial bakery or food service experience.
  • Ability to work with both hands in a fast-paced, creative environment in an efficient and controlled manner.
  • Attention to detail and ability to stand and work long periods at a time.
  • Ability to read and speak English and perform basic math problems associated with recipes.
  • Ability to accurately and consistently follow recipes.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 – 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to consistently project a friendly, open, and service oriented demeanor.
  • Food and Sanitation trained and certified (ServSafe or similar).
  • Familiarity with organic and natural foods.

This position requires excellent tenure and attendance, a committed schedule which may include opening, mid-shift, and closing, and requires weekend, and holiday shifts on a regular basis.

This is a full time or part time, hourly position with a full benefits package.
Minimum starting wage: $11.10/hr. - $14.35/hr. (based on experience and skill level). 90 days learning period with increase at 1040 and 2080 hours worked)

Team Leader, Meat and Seafood

This skills-based position oversees and directs all activities of our full-service retail meat and seafood counters at one of our three locations. The Team Lead will actively train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate staff to role model exceptional customer focused service while promoting New Pioneer’s brand and product lines.

Working Environment:

The Meat and Seafood Team Leader works in retail service counter, raw product preparation, and office environments.  This can involve frequent and extended periods of time in chilled and freezer environments working with a variety of natural animal products.  There is frequent use of potentially dangerous equipment and machinery used in the cutting and preparation of meat and seafood products as well as general computer, phone, and office requirements.  Extensive direct and interactive communication with customers, administrative support, and team members on the retail service floor and counter areas will be a daily occurrence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years in retail restaurant, meat/seafood, or prepared foods sales environment as a lead, assistant manager, or senior department team member.
  • Meat/Seafood, prepared foods or restaurant knife skills with the ability to meet or learn New Pioneer cutting and product preparation standards (cutting tests required).
  • Familiarity with organic, natural, or commercial meat/seafood practices.
  • Supervisory experience—hiring, training, evaluating, directing, documenting.
  • Ability to read and understand financial statements in regard to margin and pricing.
  • Communications skills—good listener, clear instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments individually and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 – 75 pounds on a regular basis.

This skill based position requires a committed schedule to include opening, closing, weekend, and holiday shifts on a regular basis.

The Meat and Seafood Team Leader is a full time position with a benefits package.

Utility Kitchen Support Team (North Liberty location)

This task focused position works all utility and support aspects in our professional production kitchen and bakery. Outstanding teamwork demonstrated through a strong work ethic, efficient task performance, productivity and dedication to quality is our goal.

Working Environment:

This team member works in a utility/support role in a professional kitchen and bakery environment at our North Liberty production hub.  This position will involve frequent and extended periods of time, in a wet and steamy area, operating a commercial sanitation unit as well as general cleaning tasks. A kitchen support team member may also perform food preparation tasks requiring basis knife skills and the ability to follow recipes as well as packaging products for our retail locations. Schedules will include standing, walking, reaching and lifting on a frequent basis with occasional periods of time in walk in coolers and freezers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Verifiable work experience with excellent tenure and attendance
  • Restaurant, institution, or food service experience
  • Familiarity with professional kitchen or bakery equipment
  • Attention to detail and ability to efficiently perform tasks as assigned
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to read and speak English and perform basic arithmetic
  • Enthusiasm for working in fast-paced creative environment

This position requires a committed schedule which may include opening, mid-shift, and closing, and requires weekend, and holiday shifts on a regular basis.

The Utility Kitchen Clerk is a part time, hourly position requiring a minimum of 24 hours worked weekly.

Starting wage: $10.10/hr.

90 days learning period with regularly scheduled increase.

Retail - Store Service Team

This customer focused position works all aspects of our full service retail grocery stores. Outstanding customer service, demonstrated through product knowledge, preparation, and dedication to quality is our goal.

Working Environment:

The Store Service Team member works in a retail and service counter environment. This could involve frequent and extended periods of time cashiering, bagging and carry out assistance, stocking dry goods, preparing and stocking produce and food products, as well as meat and seafood. Schedule tasks may also involve frequent periods of time working in walk in coolers and freezers. Direct and interactive communication with customers and team members on the retail service floor, and counter areas will be a daily occurrence.

Positions are limited and may not be available at all locations.

Current Areas for Initial Training vary by location.

The Store Service Team position is available as part time (18 minimum - 28 hrs. weekly, with 24-28 preferred) and full time (37 - 40 hrs. weekly)

Starting wage: $10.10 (with 90 day learning period with regularly scheduled increase)
