Shift Supervisor

Working Environment:

The Service Team Shift Supervisor works in a retail and prepared foods service counter environment. Duties may include a combination of oversight and training of team members in cashiering, stocking merchandise, preparing and stocking fresh products for display and consumption in the prepared foods service areas and counters. In this team based position you will ensure a high level of customer focused service for our shippers and maintain a safe and productive environment for our employees.  Team oversight may also involve frequent periods of time working in walk in coolers and freezers. Direct and interactive communication with customers and team members on the retail service floor, and counter areas will be a daily occurrence.

Café and Prepared Foods Deli - Coralville location

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience in a grocery, food service, or retail environment
  • Demonstrated retail customer focused service experience and skills
  • Familiarity with organic and natural foods
  • Attention to detail and ability to efficiently perform assigned tasks
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on occasion during a shift
  • Ability to read and speak English and perform basic arithmetic
  • Enthusiasm for working in fast-paced creative environment

This position requires excellent tenure and attendance, a committed schedule which may include opening, mid-shift, and closing, and requires weekend, and holiday shifts on a regular basis.

This is a full time, hourly position with a full benefits package.

Minimum starting wage: $12.35/hr. (90 days learning period with increase at 1040 and 2080 hours worked)

Utility Prep Cook (North Liberty location)

This task focused position works all utility aspects of our professional production kitchen and bakery. Outstanding customer service, demonstrated through an outstanding work ethic, task performance, productivity and dedication to quality is our goal.

Working Environment:

The Utility Prep Cook works in a utility/support role in a professional kitchen and bakery environment.  This will involve frequent and extended periods of time, in a wet and steamy area, operating a commercial sanitation unit as well as general cleaning tasks. Other tasks will involve labeling and stocking all ingredients on shelves to be organized and easily accessible, measuring ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking, preparing simple dishes such as salads, soups, entrees etc., prepares cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc., and maintains the kitchen/cooking environment clean and safe for all staff members and takes on culinary tasks as they arise.  Schedules will include frequent periods of time in walk in coolers and freezers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Verifiable work experience with excellent tenure and attendance
  • Restaurant, institution, or food service experience
  • Familiarity with professional kitchen or bakery equipment
  • Familiarity of basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling foods, etc.
  • Attention to detail and ability to efficiently perform tasks as assigned
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis

Retail - Store Service Team

This customer focused position works all aspects of our full service retail grocery stores. Outstanding customer service, demonstrated through product knowledge, preparation, and dedication to quality is our goal.

Working Environment:

Starting wage: $10.10 (with 90 day learning period with regularly scheduled increase)

Scratch Baker (North Liberty location)

The primary focus of this skills-based position is delivering a consistent and quality product made to New Pioneer standards from trusted ingredients. Outstanding customer service, demonstrated by a strong work ethic, task performance, productivity and dedication to quality is our goal.

Working Environment:

As a Bread or Pastry Scratch Baker you will be working in a professional bakery and kitchen environment. This position requires frequent use and oversight of commercial bakery/kitchen equipment including large batch mixers, stoves, ovens, and proofers. Direct and interactive communication with prepared foods team members (pastry and bread bakery and kitchen) daily and with retail facilities team members frequently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 months food service experience, preferably institutional or commercial bakery.
  • Ability to work with both hands in a fast-paced, creative environment in an efficient and controlled manner.
  • Attention to detail and ability to stand and work long periods at a time.
  • Ability to read and speak English and perform basic math problems associated with recipes.
  • Ability to accurately and consistently follow recipes.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 – 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to consistently project a friendly, open, and service oriented demeanor.
  • Food and Sanitation trained and certified (ServSafe or similar), or a willingness to acquire certification.
  • Familiarity with organic and natural foods.

Cook I and Cook II (North Liberty location)

The primary focus of these skills based positions is to create consistent quality products made to New Pioneer standards from trusted ingredients. Outstanding customer service demonstrated through thoughtful preparation of appealing and nutritious foods for our full service deli and catering customers.

Working Environment:

In this creative, production, and oversight role you will be working in a professional bakery and kitchen environment. This position will require a high degree of manual dexterity and attention to detail while maintaining established product standards. There will be frequent use of commercial kitchen equipment including mixers, food processors, stoves, ovens, and knives. The workplace environment may also include frequent periods of time in walk in coolers and freezers. Direct and interactive communication with prepared foods team members (bakery and kitchen) daily and with retail facilities team members frequently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a food service environment with deli and catering responsibilities.
  • Experience with product development, menu planning, and costing software (Master Chef, ChefTec).
  • Experience in a supervisory role – training and directing others.
  • Ability to work with both hands in a fast-paced, creative environment in an efficient and controlled manner.
  • Ability to read and speak English and perform basic math problems associated with recipes and customer order needs.
  • Ability to accurately and consistently follow recipes and meet all New Pioneer quality standards.
  • Attention to detail and ability to stand and work long periods at a time.
