Brand Manager

Lead New Pi’s marketing team and brand as we take on new and exciting challenges! The grocery landscape is actively changing, and we are evolving with it. Participate in strategic planning and implementation organization-wide. Lead projects and activities of the marketing team. Lead concept development events, outbound advertising, website development, social media content, Co-op merchandise, and community engagement. Creative, editorial, and public relations writing are key elements to this position.

Working Environment:

The Brand Manager works in an office, retail, and community environment. This may involve frequent and extended periods sitting and standing working at a monitor. The position requires direct and interactive communication with marketing and outreach team members, retail and production team members in our facilities, office hours by phone, email, and regular meetings, as well as frequent community and New Pioneer Cooperative sponsored off-site functions and activities.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies that support business growth and success
  • Work collaboratively to develop successful marketing campaigns for the public to increase brand awareness, community engagement and positive store experience
  • Strategize, measure and refine the success of brand efforts on a continuous basis through analytics, tracking and metrics
  • Market to community through targeted Google Ads, social media campaigns, mobile app, text and email
  • Use creative writing skills for developing ad campaigns, event promotions & engagement with our community
  • Represent/speak on behalf of the Co-op at public events, on camera and through other media outlets
  • Build relationships & connections in the community for the Co-op
  • Organize and lead outreach events, including large in-store events & community events

What We’re Looking for:

  • Demonstrated success with developing, creating and measuring multi-media marketing campaigns
  • 2+ years of experience leading a team and working collaboratively with other stakeholders
  • Knowledge and appreciation for natural foods (organic, non-GMO, foods without artificial ingredients)
  • Experience creating and managing Google ads and social media ad campaigns
  • Experience implementing SEO & SEM strategies & measuring data through Google Analytics
  • Significant experience with marketing strategies and processes
  • Ability to prioritize tasks appropriately in a fast-paced work environment
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with project management & budget development

This Brand Manager reports directly to the General Manager. This is an organization-wide leadership position requiring a committed schedule with flexible availability for weekends, evenings, holidays, and event activities on a regular basis.

Purchasing Receiver

This skills-based position will function as New Pioneer Cooperative’s point person for all product and merchandise delivers. The role is key in the verification of products received, quality assurance and accuracy of our Point of Sale (POS) database.

Working Environment:

The Purchasing Receiver works in a retail grocery, kitchen/bakery and office environment. The position requires receiving of packaged and perishable products, directly from delivery drivers and vendors, ensuring accurate invoices and product quality. In addition to the retail floor, general computer, phone, and office requirements, there will be frequent periods, operating a forklift/pallet jack, working in walk in coolers and kitchen/bakery production areas. The position requires bending, reaching, walking, standing and the ability to lift 50 lbs. as needed to maintain a clean and organized environment both on and off the retail floor. Extensive direct and interactive communication with delivery drivers, vendors, customers, administrative support and team members will be a daily occurrence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year in a retail POS (point of sale), grocery or warehouse environment as a merchandise receiver or inventory auditor.
  • Using approved software, demonstrate the ability to code, input, reconcile and distribute all invoices received accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated merchandising skills with the ability to ensure accurate and timely product related signage within established NPC marketing standards.
  • Ability to accurately perform tasks associated with inventory and audit functions.
  • Ability to read and understand financial statements as they relate to this position.
  • Communications skills—project a positive and approachable demeanor, attentive listener, present clear productive instructions.

Shift Supervisor

Working Environment:

The Service Team Shift Supervisor works in a retail and prepared foods service counter environment. Duties may include a combination of oversight and training of team members in cashiering, stocking merchandise, preparing and stocking fresh products for display and consumption in the prepared foods service areas and counters. In this team based position you will ensure a high level of customer focused service for our shippers and maintain a safe and productive environment for our employees.  Team oversight may also involve frequent periods of time working in walk in coolers and freezers. Direct and interactive communication with customers and team members on the retail service floor, and counter areas will be a daily occurrence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience in a grocery, food service, or retail environment

Utility Prep Cook (North Liberty location)

This task focused position works all utility aspects of our professional production kitchen and bakery. Outstanding customer service, demonstrated through an outstanding work ethic, task performance, productivity and dedication to quality is our goal.

Working Environment:

The Utility Prep Cook works in a utility/support role in a professional kitchen and bakery environment.  This will involve frequent and extended periods of time, in a wet and steamy area, operating a commercial sanitation unit as well as general cleaning tasks. Other tasks will involve labeling and stocking all ingredients on shelves to be organized and easily accessible, measuring ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking, preparing simple dishes such as salads, soups, entrees etc., prepares cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc., and maintains the kitchen/cooking environment clean and safe for all staff members and takes on culinary tasks as they arise.  Schedules will include frequent periods of time in walk in coolers and freezers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Verifiable work experience with excellent tenure and attendance
  • Restaurant, institution, or food service experience
  • Familiarity with professional kitchen or bakery equipment
  • Familiarity of basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling foods, etc.

Retail - Store Service Team

Scratch Baker (North Liberty location)

The primary focus of this skills-based position is delivering a consistent and quality product made to New Pioneer standards from trusted ingredients. Outstanding customer service, demonstrated by a strong work ethic, task performance, productivity and dedication to quality is our goal.

Working Environment:

As a Bread or Pastry Scratch Baker you will be working in a professional bakery and kitchen environment. This position requires frequent use and oversight of commercial bakery/kitchen equipment including large batch mixers, stoves, ovens, and proofers. Direct and interactive communication with prepared foods team members (pastry and bread bakery and kitchen) daily and with retail facilities team members frequently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 months food service experience, preferably institutional or commercial bakery.
  • Ability to work with both hands in a fast-paced, creative environment in an efficient and controlled manner.
  • Attention to detail and ability to stand and work long periods at a time.
  • Ability to read and speak English and perform basic math problems associated with recipes.
  • Ability to accurately and consistently follow recipes.

Cook I and Cook II (North Liberty location)

The primary focus of these skills based positions is to create consistent quality products made to New Pioneer standards from trusted ingredients. Outstanding customer service demonstrated through thoughtful preparation of appealing and nutritious foods for our full service deli and catering customers.

Working Environment:

In this creative, production, and oversight role you will be working in a professional bakery and kitchen environment. This position will require a high degree of manual dexterity and attention to detail while maintaining established product standards. There will be frequent use of commercial kitchen equipment including mixers, food processors, stoves, ovens, and knives. The workplace environment may also include frequent periods of time in walk in coolers and freezers. Direct and interactive communication with prepared foods team members (bakery and kitchen) daily and with retail facilities team members frequently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a food service environment with deli and catering responsibilities.
  • Experience with product development, menu planning, and costing software (Master Chef, ChefTec).
  • Experience in a supervisory role – training and directing others.
  • Ability to work with both hands in a fast-paced, creative environment in an efficient and controlled manner.
