They were sitting on the pedmall, and they were hungry. When Naftaly Stramer and Ofer Sivan faced this common dilemma, they responded with an uncommon solution: opening their own restaurant. Today, Oasis Falafel is Iowa City’s premier spot for falafel, pitas, lamb kabobs, and a Sultan’s platter truly worthy of the name. Ofer and Naftaly pride themselves on making their insanely creamy hummus and babba ganoush using fresh chickpeas, real grilled eggplant, and high quality olive oil. When Co-op employees and customers started clamoring for their products to be sold in-stores, Ofer and Naftaly were happy to stock us up. We’re proud to offer this freshly-made local favorite at both New Pi locations.
